Where to Stay Near Busselton Jetty: Resort, Foreshore or Town Centre?

Aerial view of Busselton Jetty

Busselton Jetty is one of the biggest drawcards on Western Australia’s South West coast, so it makes sense that many visitors start their accommodation search by looking for resorts near Busselton Jetty.

But being as close to the Jetty as possible isn’t necessarily the right choice for every holiday.

Some travellers want to step outside and be among the foreshore activity. Others would rather have more space, resort facilities and easy beach access while remaining just a short drive from the Jetty. Staying closer to Busselton town centre can also be useful if cafés, restaurants and shops matter more than being beside the water.

So where should you stay?

Here’s how the main options compare.

Staying Near Busselton Jetty

The area around Busselton Jetty and the foreshore is an obvious choice if sightseeing is at the top of your list.

You’re close to one of the region’s best-known attractions, along with the beach, foreshore paths and places to eat and drink. It can be particularly convenient for a short stay when you want to spend most of your time exploring on foot.

Best for:

  • First-time visitors
  • Short Busselton stays
  • Travellers who want the Jetty to be the focus of their trip
  • Couples who enjoy walking to attractions and dining
  • Visitors who don’t want to use the car as often

Things to consider

Convenience is the biggest advantage, but staying directly around a major visitor precinct isn’t everyone’s idea of a relaxing coastal break.

Families or groups staying for several days may place greater value on additional living space, cooking facilities, a swimming pool or a quieter setting.

That’s where looking slightly beyond the immediate foreshore can make sense.

Choosing a Resort Near Busselton Jetty

You don’t have to be directly beside the Jetty to make it a regular part of your holiday.

A resort within easy reach of Busselton Jetty can offer a useful middle ground. You can visit the Jetty, foreshore and town when you want to, while returning to accommodation designed for spending more time on site. This can work particularly well for families.

Instead of everyone sharing one hotel room, self-contained resort accommodation may provide separate bedrooms, a living area and a kitchen. Resort facilities such as a swimming pool, playground or BBQ area can also give families something to do without needing to plan another excursion.

For example, Amalfi Resort in West Busselton offers self-contained villa accommodation close to Geographe Bay, with Busselton Jetty and the town centre still within easy reach. This type of location can suit travellers who want access to Busselton’s main attractions without needing to stay in the busiest part of town.

Best for:

  • Families with children
  • Groups travelling together
  • Stays of several nights or longer
  • Travellers who value a kitchen and laundry
  • Visitors who want beach and resort time as well as sightseeing
  • People using Busselton as a base for the wider Margaret River Region

Staying on or Near the Busselton Foreshore

For many travellers, the foreshore is the sweet spot. You’re close to the beach and outdoor spaces, and the Jetty remains readily accessible. Morning walks, swims and evening strolls become easy additions to the day rather than activities that require much planning.

Foreshore accommodation is especially appealing in warmer months when much of the holiday is likely to revolve around the water.

Best for:

  • Beach-focused holidays
  • Couples
  • Families who expect to spend plenty of time outdoors
  • Visitors who enjoy walking and cycling
  • Short to medium-length stays

Things to consider

Look carefully at what “near the foreshore” or “beach accommodation” actually means.

A property can be close to the coast without being directly beachfront. That isn’t necessarily a disadvantage. A short walk to the beach may give you more accommodation choices, a quieter setting or better facilities.

Check the actual location rather than choosing solely from words such as “beach”, “bay” or “foreshore” in the property description.

Staying Near Busselton Town Centre

The town centre is worth considering if your holiday priorities extend beyond the beach. Being close to cafés, shops, supermarkets and restaurants can make everyday holiday logistics easier. This is particularly useful if you’re only staying for a couple of nights or expect to eat out frequently.

You’ll still be able to visit Busselton Jetty and the foreshore, but your accommodation choice is based more around access to town than immediate beach proximity.

Best for:

  • Travellers who enjoy eating out
  • Short stays
  • Visitors without children
  • Business travellers adding some leisure time to their trip
  • People who want shops and services nearby

How Close Do You Really Need to Be to Busselton Jetty?

This is one of the most useful questions to ask before booking.

If visiting the Jetty once is part of a broader South West itinerary, you probably don’t need to stay immediately beside it.

If you expect to walk the foreshore every morning, visit the Jetty more than once and dine around the waterfront each evening, staying closer becomes more valuable.

Families might take a different view again. Being a few kilometres from the Jetty but only a short walk from the beach can be a worthwhile trade-off if the accommodation provides more space and useful facilities.

Look Beyond Distance When Comparing Resorts Near Busselton Jetty

When comparing accommodation, check more than the number of kilometres on the map.

Accommodation layout

A couple may be perfectly comfortable in a hotel room. A family or group may benefit from separate bedrooms and a proper living area.

Kitchen facilities

Having somewhere to prepare breakfast, snacks or children’s meals can make longer stays easier.

Laundry facilities

This can be surprisingly valuable on beach holidays and longer family trips.

Pool and children’s facilities

If you’re travelling with children, resort facilities can fill the hours between sightseeing trips.

Beach access

The Jetty may be the famous landmark, but Busselton’s coastline is likely to become a major part of your stay too.

Parking

If you’re planning winery visits, trips through the Margaret River Region or days exploring the coast, convenient parking can matter more than being able to walk everywhere.

What About Exploring Beyond Busselton?

Where you stay also depends on whether Busselton is your destination or your base.

Many visitors use Busselton for trips throughout the wider South West. If that’s your plan, easy vehicle access and parking can become more important than staying in the middle of the visitor precinct.

A resort slightly outside the centre can work well when your holiday combines the Busselton Jetty with Geographe Bay beaches, Margaret River wineries, or nature walks and outdoor activities.

You can still enjoy Busselton while having a comfortable base to return to after longer days out.

Choosing the Right Place to Stay Near Busselton Jetty

Start by deciding what you want your accommodation to do for you.

Choose accommodation close to Busselton Jetty if walking access to the attraction and foreshore is your highest priority. A resort within easy reach of Busselton Jetty provides ideal space and facilities, particularly for a family or longer stay.

Choose a foreshore location if most of your holiday will revolve around the beach and outdoor activities.

Choose the town centre if cafés, restaurants and shops are most important.

The best location isn’t necessarily the one closest to the Jetty. It’s the one that makes the rest of your Busselton holiday easier too.
